Hi, I’m Dave.

I’m a Product Designer with 20+ years’ experience helping organisations simplify complex digital experiences for their customers.

My career started in graphic design before moving into the early dot-com world—back when building websites meant hand-coding HTML and figuring things out as you went. Since then I’ve worked across agencies, consultancies and large enterprise organisations, designing products and services spanning banking, energy, healthcare, telecoms, and technology.

Over the years I’ve learned that good product design rarely starts with screens. It starts with understanding people, business constraints and operational reality—then finding the simplest possible experience that brings those things together.

That mindset has shaped my work across everything from customer journeys and service ecosystems to UX strategy, design systems and hands-on UI design. I’m equally comfortable facilitating workshops with stakeholders as I am getting deep into flows, prototypes and interaction detail.

A big part of my career was spent at HeathWallace, where I worked for 14 years delivering digital programmes for major banking clients, leading pitches and collaborating with teams across the world. In 2019 I moved into contracting to work more directly inside product and transformation teams, most recently within the energy sector on long-term engagements with British Gas and BP.

I’m particularly interested in the intersection between product design, service design and AI-enabled experiences—especially where design can reduce complexity, build trust and create genuinely useful customer interactions rather than just adding more features.

After two decades in digital, I still enjoy the same thing that drew me into the industry in the first place: solving difficult problems and turning them into experiences that feel clear, intuitive and human.
